In Print: 'Mystery, Alaska' Exhibition Unites Hockey Lovers
Written By: ELLEN A. KIM

INGLEWOOD, Calif., Sept. 20, 1999 -- "Mystery, Alaska" opened Oct. 1, but the puck stopped here Sept. 20 as celebrities joined former L.A. Kings players at The Great Western Forum for an exhibition hockey game.

"Team Mystery" was mostly made up of cast and crew from "Mystery, Alaska": director M. Jay Roach played coach, and producer/writer David E. Kelley, producer Howard Baldwin and screenwriter Sean O'Byrne joined cast members Michael Buie, Scott Grimes and Ryan Northcott. Helping out were Scott Wolf, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Alan Thicke, Oliver Hudson, Ron Melendez, Derek Broes and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

They faced off against L.A. Kings alumni Jim Fox, Daryl Evans, Ian Turnbull, Rick Chartraw and Jim Thompson, coached by Rogie Vachon. The event, sponsored by Hollywood Pictures, which released the film, the L.A. Kings and The Mighty Ducks, kicked off the very last Kings game to play at The Forum. The exhibition was a benefit for the Spine in Sports Foundation.
