In Print: Keep Legacy Campaign

Please note the KLC is no longer active, this article is simply to show what was done for those interested.

Legacy, a Prism award nominee, was pulled from the UPN schedule in March. The beautifully filmed and well-written series focuses on a family whose values are guided not by wealth, but by the value of helping others. UPN has stated the show will not return to the schedule in April. However, a movement to renew the show has already begun. Within hours of the hiatus announcement, fans from all over the country gathered on the Internet and named themselves the Keep Legacy Campaign.

A web site was launched and a write-in campaign was started to UPN, Alliance (the show's production company), the show's sponsors, and network affiliates. The first priority of the campaign is to make sure that Legacy is renewed by UPN. The campaign promotes the show's strong family values and morals, and hopes to gain viewers during the critical May sweeps period.

The Keep Legacy Campaign asks the members of Viewers Voice for their help in saving this series. We need help in convincing the network that Legacy is a quality show with a growing, loyal audience. This includes, but is not limited to, writing sponsors, affiliates, UPN, the media, and other organizations. Viewers Voice has a history of keeping great television on the air. The Keep Legacy Campaign needs the help of the members of Viewers Voice to save great television once again.

A press release from the Campaign:

Executive Producer Chris Abbott is currently working on presenting the show to another network, but needs YOUR help in reassuring Alliance Atlantis Communications (the studio that owns the show) that "Legacy" has a huge fan base that will follow the show to another network. Alliance reportedly is very pleased with the show, but without ratings, it's not worth the investment. "Legacy" is costly to produce and if Alliance cannot get its money back, it won't continue to produce the show. And, since Alliance owns "Legacy," this means the show is over if Alliance pulls out. Alliance is the only way the show can stay alive at this point. "Legacy" fans do NOT need to concentrate on writing other networks at this time - Chris Abbott is handling that end of the process. What we need to concentrate on is Alliance. Without Alliance, another network will not even have the chance to pick up the show.

The Keep Legacy Campaign would like you to write Alliance to express your disappointment that UPN has cancelled the show. It is important to stress in your letter that with proper promotion, "Legacy" can be the show that EVERYONE is talking about. Other things to mention include the fact that UPN did not promote the show, does not have network affiliates in all cities, and aired the show at inconsistent times. Many people do not even know this show exists. If Alliance can be convinced that people ARE watching "Legacy" and that the show was a victim of poor promotion, they may keep the faith and continue to produce the show for another network.

Please write a letter TODAY to Peter Sussman at Alliance. Time is running out and we need to inundate Mr. Sussman with letters NOW. Remember, Alliance loves the show, too, but we have to convince them that they will get a return on their investment if they continue to produce the show.

Please send a letter today to:
Peter Sussman, President, Atlantis - Los Angeles
Alliance Atlantis Communications
808 Wilshire Blvd. 3rd floor
Santa Monica, California 90401
(310) 899-8000
(310) 899-8100 Fax
Also, please send a copy of the letter to the Keep Legacy Campaign so we can keep Chris Abbott informed of how many letters Alliance is receiving. Please pour your heart into this letter. It may be Legacy's last chance at survival.

The Campaign would like to thank you for your support and hard work We all know that Legacy is a one-in-a-million show. Now let's convince Alliance.

Write!
