PREMISE: Posse of Five. This period-piece family drama is set in post-Civil War bluegrass Kentucky, as the horse-farming Logans take in a 17-year-old orphan (Melendez) who threatens to disrupt an already stormy Irish clan.

THEY SAY: "I see it as a combination of Bonzana and "Legends of the Fall", says executive producer Chris Abbott (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman). "Here's a family that has tremendous wealth, but they're not run by their wealth. They believe in helping others, in values more spiritual than materialistic."

WE SAY: Disgruntled Dr. Quinn fans can take heart that UPN has picked up where CBS left off in this handsome if predictable and earnest heart-warner. With its trendy Celtic music, a poster-perfect cast of young discoveries and a strong father figure in Cullen, Legacy attempts to put a contemporary stamp (including hints of interracial romance) on an old-fashioned genre.
